Diz is kewl here.
I played baseball basically through out my entire youth. Came up with teeball and ended as varsity co-captain my senior year, alternating between year round ball or just playing two seasons. Can't really watch the sport so much (probably also has to do with not having a favorite team), but I love playing that game more than anything. I stopped in college, but we play intramural softball every spring and I'm sure I'll either end up coaching some little league teams or something and probably keep up with adult soft ball leagues. I definitely do miss playing baseball on the competitive level though. |

I played baseball from 7th grade until 9th grade. I loved it but I loved skating more so I stopped playin. I hated going to practice and shit because I would have rather been skating. Lol. I played 1st and 3rd. I was also quarterback in a little flag football league in like 7th grade cause my parents wouldn't let me play tackle. I still like playin catch and shit. I could see myself being in an adult softball league or something later on.

I played my entire childhood up until highschool, mostly because I have a lot of family that has played and worked in the minors and majors. I still think its fun as hell to play but our school's team plays year round and I'd rather skate.
EDIT: Lol @pms yeah I played flag football in middle school too because my parent's didn't want me playing tackle, shit was mad easy to play wide receiver. |

yeah I've always loved baseball, literally been watching it since I can remember (went to a cubs game when I was 2, saw a game at tiger stadium when I was 5... go way back...)
I think I started playing when I was in kindergarden, tee ball, but I hated tee ball, it was boring to me since they weren't actually pitching it... then I played every year until I was like, 14. then I broke my hand playing basketball at the park on a day I didn't have practice, haven't played baseball since. so yeah to be honest I'm kind of worried that three years of playing no sports might take it's toll but I think I'll be alright. |

I started at t-ball and was generally shitty until my career was tragically cut short in middle school by these other boys on my team who would spit gum on my glove because they didn't want me to be 2B.
But I still love the A's. And playing catch and shit. |

I love playing baseball, it's my favorite to play, not so much to watch though. I played in 9th grade, and played last year up in Connecticut. I was lead off batter and left field, I'm not too bad. Naturally being from Florida I like the Rays and Marlins, I've been to a few Rays games, never made it to Miami for the Marlins though.

I used to play a lot as a kid, I was on a team for a while. I ripped my achilles tendon and had to stop playing for a while and never picked it back up again, and later screwed up my right shoulder so I can't throw a ball with my right arm anymore. I still play every once in a while, I have to throw lefty now though.

I played from t-ball to middle school. I was always a right fielder. I've never played another position.

I played little league from like 3rd or 4th grade up until 8th. STarted out always wanting to be a pitcher haha but i'm not too accurate so i gave up after a couple years. center field is my domain..i was never too good at batting, though. I think i got in the .300's during my last year playing, but i was usually batting in the low .100's lol.
sometimes i miss playing it, but usually not too much. i still like to watch it, though. |

i used to fucking love playing, and i would still love to play if i had the time, just not with stupid high school/college kids who think they're tough shit, just people who love to play.
when im a little older and have more time it'd be great to join an adult softball league or something. baseball is the only sport i've ever loved playing and watching. |

i guess i should probably contribute to this topic. played from kindergarten to 8th grade, missed my freshman year tryouts for high school ball and havent played since. been playing a lot of wiffle ball when the weathers nice, and it makes me miss baseball so goddamn much. really wanna get in a softball league this summer to enjoy the game again. im a lefty so my options are limited to outfield, first base, and pitcher, but i was normally a center fielder. all star team my 8th grade year for my club team, couldnt hit for shit but had a hell of a lot of range with the glove.

played basketball throughout elementary and middle school, couldn't keep up with my teammates blessed pituitary glands. In high school, I played freshman and sophomore year but couldn't make the cut for varsity.
But this is about baseball. Never really got into that as well as other kids in my community. |

i played up until like 8th grade, that was the last year cause after that i had to either join a traveling team or play on a shitty team that had absolutely retarded coaches.
most of the time i either played second or pitched. i was pretty good on second and was the most acurate pitcher(not sayin a whole lot though). my main problem was that i couuldnt hit very hard since i was extremely skinny back then. good luck with your tryouts though, i really miss playing but i know i'd be absolutely terrible if i played again. |

Played baseball since t-ball. This is my last year of hs ball, 4th year on varsity. Catcher and pitcher mostly but sometimes 3rd. I like catcher best if I have a good pitcher. Been catching since I was 7. Good luck at tryouts.

Wasn't that hard my 1st year as it was a new school, no seniors. Would not count on varsity if you did't play for a few years as you missed a lot of games and practices. We do a lot of running, stretching, throwing, fielding, hitting. Pitchers and catchers work a lot on those positions. I would suggest going to a batting cage as much as you can before tryouts. If you can hit they will find a spot for you. Maybe see if they have any work outs before tryouts.
What position you want to play? |

but yeah they have batting cages tuesdays and thursdays, I would've went for the first time today except it got cancelled, so I'll go on thursday. and they have workouts on sundays. you know of any drills I could do at home until then though? nothing outside since there's still a few inches of snow, but yeah. I have plenty of room for shit like that in my basement. I remember I used to be a pretty damn good hitter back when I did play, but that was back in like, middle school when only a handful of kids could even throw a breaking ball. So I think once I get my timing and stuff back I'll be able to hit a fastball but I dunno about much else. and I don't really have a position preferance, probably any of the outfield positions would be the best fit. I used to play catcher though, and I really enjoyed that but I think I'd need to get re-acclimated before I could get behind the dish again. |

I've never had to work out indoors so can't think of anything for you to do. Maybe if you have room you can start to throw to get the arm in shape. Might want to talk to your coach see if he can tell you what to do.
Pitchers will be a lot better now than they were in middle school. I throw a pretty good curve, fork ball and change up now that I didn't have 4 years ago. Catching would be tough after not playing for so long because of the better pitching so outfield would be best I think. Wish I could be more help as I love baseball but I could help a lot more one on one than I can on a computer. I wish you the best of luck. Oh, pitchers run way more than anyone else. Strong legs are a big deal for pitching. |
