I'm gonna be a DJ for the school radio station. It's live during lunch and football games. There is also a legit radio that goes from after school to like 5, but they don't know if I'm good enough. I wanna be different from the other im sharing time with.So whats some things I could do to make it exciting or better. Also could I get some good clean songs preferable nothing that everyone else is gonna be playing?

from someone who hates radio playlists, you should know a few things.

songs should all be similar in genre and overall vibe. "djs" here don't actually pick their songs so the most popular songs are played at the time of day when most people will be listening, and so the most advertisements are piled in at that time. but that also means that master of puppets and brass monkey will almost always be played one after the other. which is fucking gay and my local stations suck ass.

you better not be usin illegal downloads at your station. thats how kRock died. and it was nationwide and i dont want you to get kicked out over a stupid song. so try and rip friends cds or something. or just be very carful (good luck if you do)

if i were you id be a staion that takes requests and plays anything nd see what a majority of the style of music the request and then play songs of that genre nd mix it up too

--also very important dont forget to throw the news in there and keep ur listeners up to date with news events so they can keep their radio locked--

It's not like he's a legit DJ... he's only gonna play some tracks at school while people eat.

I'd say don't play shit that you'd like, go for something that everyone can enjoy, mix up your playlist a little and don't stick to one genre. Don't play stuff expecting people to come up to you and be like "omg ur musix taste is g0od!".
