I guess what I need is some decent paper, because I have a 4b, 2b, HB, and 2H. Is a smudge stick anything like a blending stump? I don't have either, I'm using some felt that works decently.

Not sure how much you know on the topic, but how do you feel about blending mediums? I've been drawing pretty much 2 hours a day for the past month and I've made a lot of progress with the advice you gave me a while back. The reason I'm asking is because I'm getting a really shiny, glaring effect with my darker graphite colors, so I wondering if replacing those values with charcoal would help any. I guess the other option would be drawing with 100% charcoal, and simply switching off between the two. Just looking for some thoughts.

brad, I've asked you this in like 2 different places already, but would you be cool with letting me use your self portrait for this english project? I have to do a book cover for a clockwork orange and your self portrait is perfect for it. If you don't want me to, I'll just find something else to use.
