Culture - Creation Series Deck
By Foundation999 at 2008-08-05 12:34

This 7.62 Creation Series deck is 100% made in the USA, and set me back USD$45.99 with USD$5 shipping from San Francisco based www.Cultureskate.com, very legit website with very fast shipping, I got it within 2 days of ordering (standard shipping), came with a bunch of coupons for future purchases, stickers, a catalogue, and free hardware matching the deck's colour. (Upfuls green hardware).

Cultureskate.com also stocks Yellow Brand Skateboards, Creation Skateboards, Satori Movement Wheels, Upful hardware and clothing. And they have excellent customer service also.

Alright, down to business.

GRAPHIC
Might as well start with the least important thing, I think the graphic looks great personally, but that’s all opinion, the paint on this deck stays on the deck much better than any other decks I've had. The paint doesn’t chip off, like some decks do, Instead, it smudges or slides off, which in my opinion is better for boardslides etc.

DURABILITY
The deck is self is extremely durable. after 3-4 months, no pressure cracks, no cracks in the plies and no significant dents in the board. I don’t do stairs or big gaps that much, so take that in to consideration (4-5 sets mostly, nothing big). I usually don’t razortail that much either, but on this deck, I got ALOT of razortail. My manuals are clean, so I don’t drag my tail, I stop with my foot, not the tail, and most of my tricks are generally clean, So there’s almost no reason for my razortail to get this bad. My decks will usually break in between 2-3 months, this has outlasted that, and is not gonna break any time soon.

FEEL
This deck is probably made out of the hardest wood I’ve ever seen used on a skateboard. There is very minimal flex, which may be uncomfortable used to skating "Soft wood" decks (i.e. Enjoi, Elements, Almosts, Darkstars, Blinds ETC) The nose and tail are about medium sized. For example, bigger than the nose/tail on an Enjoi, smaller than the nose and tail on a Girl or Expedition One.
The concave was the same all in both the nose and tail.

SHAPE
The nose and tail are more on the pointy side, giving it a very nice tre shape, and there is very little concave throughout the deck. In fact, the concave is so mellow, it could be flat, and I wouldn't even notice for awhile. This made Heelflips/Kickflips sort of difficult at first, but you'll get used to it. It is a 7.6 after all, which are easy to flip. The tail and nose are very similar size, so people who switch between the nose and tail a lot should find it easy to adjust to either side.

POP
At first the pop is average, it didn’t make me go "Did this thing get rained on in the factory?" or "Hey guys, watch me ollie that there skyscraper!". Just average. But, given a week or two, the pop seemed to evaporate into thin air. The difference in a week or two was pretty drastic, and the board went from being average, to the pop being flat out dead. It reminded me of my Blind which just seemed to "leak" pop, meaning that after each time I skated it for awhile, I could almost feel the difference in pop, not to that extreme for this board, but you get the picture.

OVERALL
The board itself is a tank, I haven't broken it yet, and I'm keeping it as a backup in case I need a deck. The mellow concave and the stiffness of the deck may take time to get used to, but it actually feels decently comfy. The Razortail is a complaint, and is probably the culprit of the pop-loss, so if you can somehow avoid razortailing this board, you should probably be set. If you need a deck that will last a very long time, get this deck, it WILL last a long time, but other than that this deck is average. Also, this graphic is mad sexy, so if you need a wallhanger board, look no further!!
