Talk about constantly killing it.

For some reason when I get drunk and sleep super late, I always wake up like super early feeling like shit. Today was no exception I slept at 1:30 am and I woke up today at around 5 am ; 4:49 to be exact. I took a piss and seeing as how I couldn’t fall asleep again I decided to watch a skate video.

I was watching Fully Flared, while watching Marc Johnson’s part I thought to my self how a lot of pro skaters are hot with coverage for a few years and then sort of fade away. Seeing how Marc came out with tons of ads that year, the Fully Flared part, and eventually winning Thrasher’s Skater of the Year. What have we seen of Marc Johnson lately? Maybe a few ads, and maybe a few web clips. Sometimes pros come back and get on another hot streak, but some just fade away and have those one or two video parts that you will remember them by. skateboard city

Trying to think of more examples I thought of Silas Baxter-Neal, Andrew Reynolds,Kenny Anderson just to name a few. These are guys that have had banging years and sort of faded away and then came up with more shit. Someone who hasn’t really made that comeback is Devine Calloway, he came out with that Transworld part, and we haven’t seen much from him. Then again, there are pros who don’t really like being in the spotlight and come out with a limited amount of coverage. Then I realized that there was a guy that had been killing it for around 5 to 6 years.

None other than “The Beast from the East,” Mr. Bobby Worrest. Let’s go back to the year 2006, that’s when I first saw Bobby in an independent Washington DC video called “Time Will Tell” Instantly his ability to skate through Pulaski park and Washington DC in general while doing really stylish yet flip to grind combos caught my eye. A few weeks later I checked out the “Krooked Kronicles,” only to find Bobby again getting really tech but still keeping it looking really stylish and you could still see his east coast roots. A few months later I watched Get Familiar another independent east coast video. Bobby yet again was killing it, swerving through the streets of DC skating some rough spots and still getting tech, and as an added bonus he was skating to Fugazi. What amazed the most was that none of these parts felt like throwaway all of them had solid, innovative footage. Three parts in a year, any pro or am would at least take a two year cool-down process but not Bobby.

In 2007 Bobby came out with two parts, one in the undermined “éSpecial,” video and the other in Krooked’s “Gnar Gnar.” Although Gnar Gnar was more of a fun, mess-around video the footage was still really solid, but you could tell Bobby knew how to have fun on a skateboard. In 2008, he appeared on éS tour video “You, éS, Eh?,” and appeared on “Gnaughty,” another of Krooked’s fun, mess-around videos. In 2009 He appeared in Transworld’s “Right Foot Forward,” and on another éS tour video, “The Great éScape.” Finally in 2010 he had a shared part with Fat Bob-Reynolds (yes they actually call him that) in the indpendent East Coast video “YouGottaGetThat,” and has a part coming out this summer in the new “Krook3d,” video. That would be a total of eight video parts in the last four years and two tour video appearances. All of this while putting out numerous ads for his sponsors and with a pro model called “The First Blood,” from éS and it has been one of the top selling shoes since it came out.

What makes me admire Bobby the most is that he is known for his love towards strippers, tattoos, and beer. He constantly parties, has a good time, and still has time to put out more coverage than anyone else in the past four years and there has been no sign of slowing down and he lives on the east coast. There is even a rumor that he got to interlock crotches with with the smokin’ Erica Yary AKA Active Erica (although she doesn’t work at active anymore.) I’d say Bobby is killing it at life in general, I take my hat off to Bobby and I hope to see him killing it for many years more.
