Deathwish Deathspray 7.875 Deck Review
Price
On average, you’ll be spending close to $60 at most skate shops/online stores. Some may have them for as low as $50-$55, but for the most part this deck will be in the $50-$60 range.
Where To Buy?
Local skate shops will definitely supply them. Maybe not this exact graphic, but Deathwish is a popular brand, so any skate shop is bound some. If not, there’s lots of online stores that do. A few online stores you can purchase these from include…

First Thoughts/Impressions
Well, my mom choose this deck, so I didn’t have much of a say when purchasing it. At first it reminded me of Lizard King for some reason, and I grew onto it fast. Deathwish is one of my favorite board companies, so no matter what the graphic was, I knew it’d be a good board. I like the bright neon colors of the word “Deathwish”. It stands out nicely, and gives some originality from other decks. Also, being from BakerBoys Distribution, I couldn’t resist.
Shape
From riding previous Deathwish boards, I knew the shape would be good. It gives of a similar shape as Bakers which is what appeals to me. It’s not too wide, or long at all. I ride anywhere between a 7.56-7.9, so this being a 7.875 was perfect for me. Although, the shape was nice for a good bit, it started feeling a little flimsy after the first month or so of skating it. Not to worry though, it wasn’t enough to make my tricks harder to land or anything like that, but eventually it does lose some of it’s shape making it feel a little different than when I first got it. Nothing major enough to not buy the deck though. Overall, I enjoy riding Deathwish shapes, and will continue to do so.
Concave
For some reason, I really liked the concave of this deck. I’d say it’s a little more than medium, but not steep enough to be considered having steep concave. I liked it. A definite strong point of the deck. The nose is a little steeper than the tail concave which is to be expected. The concave gives you good footing for your tricks, and has a comfortable feel to it when riding. Not anywhere on this deck is there a mellow feel. With other board companies, a few make their tails mellow, while having the nose be medium steepness. I am not a fan of it whatsoever. Both the nose, and tail on this deck were perfect for me.
Durability
As much as I skated this deck, I expected no less than the life span my Bakers would give me. For the most part, I was correct. Most Bakers last me at least a solid month if not, a little more. This deck is still holding up well after 5-6 weeks of use. I am impressed with the durability this deck has provided. There have been no signs of any major pressure crack along the trucks, or anything. With other boards, within the first week pressure crack would start to show up. Overall, I’m pleased with how long this deck has lasted me, and would definitely recommend it to someone needed a deck to last them for more than a month or so.
Pop
Some don’t believe in such a thing, but for those who do (including me), I’ll tell you what I thought of it. From the very first sessions skating it, it had great pop. Not as much as I would hope for, but enough for anyone needing a crisp poppy deck. The thing that impressed me is that the pop stays throughout the life of the deck. Sure it wears down a little naturally from the plies being scraped against the ground, but doesn’t seem to lose it’s pop as much as moth other decks would. The pop as of now is ok for how long it’s been skated. I still get springy kickflips, and ollies when I want to. Overall, a decently poppy deck, but if you want a deck that’s more known for pop, then give Baker a try. In my opinion, they are one of the poppiest decks out there.
Overall
Well, there you have it. Deathwish has definitely made a name for itself since starting last year, and I’m sure will they continue to grow as a company. Their boards are about the same as Bakers, with a few minor differences to them. I’d recommend them to someone looking for a deck with a nice shape/concave, and good durability. Maybe not the most poppy, but they hold their own nicely. So overall, if you want a deck with a comfortable feeling shape, a in between steep and mellow concave, and long lasting deck, give Deathwish a try.
