Independent Stage 9 Low Truck Review

Features: Utilizing the original Fast-Action Independent Geometry with the same kingpin and pivot angles
– The new Stage 9 Low turns and responds quickly and precisely–just like an Independent truck should
– Keeping the original axle position relative to the mounting holes the new Stage 9 Low provides the truest wheel base possible and keeps the meat of the baseplate outside of your wheels for solid nose and tail tricks

Break In Period: These trucks broke in extremely well. Right once you set your board down, they turn very nicely and easily, and do not get speed wobbles. You can ride straight without wobbling with ease – even at a skatepark. Turning is easy as well, and while the turns are a bit stiff at first, within about ten minutes they are perfect.

Response: One word: AMAZING. These are literally the only trucks I have gotten in 5 years that don’t get a slipped axle, and stay straight for the life of the truck. Usually after about 3-4 months my trucks start to favor the heel side, making it much harder to stay straight when setting up for kickflip tricks. However, these stayed absolutely perfect. Turns are precise and exactly how you want them. No complaints.

Skatability: While Indys are known to be heavy, the Stage 9 Lows are 33% lighter, and I noticed no difference when switching from my old Krux Downlows. They are not heavy at all, and will not negatively affect your skating. They grind smooth, and the kingpin is well below the grinding portion, so you need not worry about grinding down your kingpin. The edges of the truck are tapered for feeble and smith grinds, and for not hanging up as easily on coping. This I can’t really say I noticed a difference on, neither positive or negative.

Durability: I have had these trucks for a year without once having to even change bushings. They grind without wearing down, maintain their response amazingly, the kingpin is strong, and the bushings are durable.

Overall: Get this truck, period. No other truck will respond, grind, or ride as well as Indys, and now that they are as light as every other top truck, there is just no negative. 10/10
