What the fuck happened to small boards?

Well, yesterday I bought a new board. It was a local brand and it was a 7.75 I usually skate 8-8.18 maybe 8.25 boards and have been doing so for the past 2 1/2 years, but I was sort of reminiscing on how everyone used t skate 7.5-7.75 boards a few years back (plus I wanted to support a local brand). http://502skateboards.com/

While gripping my board I thought my self that most people, even people who just started skate 8+ decks now. I thought to my self that this has become more of a trend than something necessary. I skate a lot of tranny, harsh spots, and steep banks and my deck felt better than ever. It was so light, responsive to flip tricks, and I found it much easier to control.

Now, I am not saying everybody who skates 8+ decks is stupid or lame etc. I skate them all the time. I am saying the kids who don’t know shit about skating and have only skated like 2 decks say that small decks are bad and that they should not be bought at all, when in fact they themselves haven’t even tried one and are just saying that because everyone rides big decks now. The message of the story is try out a few sizes before forming an opinion and just because everyone else is doing it doesn’t mean you have to.

Fuck, in fact just check out these older clips of pros, skating super gnarly tranny, stairs, ledges etc with some smaller boards and not having a problem killing it.

Believe it or not Tommy skated a 7.625 board during this time

Last but not least, back in his prime Cardiel skated a 7.5. That my friends is OG as fuck.
