Nike SB Dunk Mid

Nike SB Dunk Mid

I got these after hearing that they were durable and skated really well and had vulc-like boardfeel. That is not what I got for the $87 I paid to say the least.

Pros:
Nice, soft suede
Good boardfeel for a padded shoe
Feels like you’re walking on a pillow
Good impact support
Mid-top and a strap for ankle support

Cons:
Weak.

Price: Usually around $80-$95 unless found on sale.

Style: It shouldn’t be hard to find some of these you like, a lot of people seem to not like the ones pictured above, but I do so I bought those. There are lots of colorways available if you look hard enough. Besides that some people might not like the thickness of these shoes but it’s all opinion, no rating given for that reason.

Boardfeel: Boardfeel wasn’t bad for a nicely padded cupsole shoe, I can definitely notice a big difference between these and vulcs, but it’s not bad at all. It’s fairly easy to get used to and good enough to be satisfied if you still want good impact support, the concave can be felt under your feet while still protecting them. I would give the boardfeel an 8/10.

Grip: The suede was soft making the shoe nice and grippy, but also weak. The sole wasn’t anything special at all but last a decent amount of time, and I slide my feet around on the griptape to set up for tricks sometimes, so at least it lasted a good amount of time. Other than that the grip wasn’t too bad, the suede gripped nicely and if you don’t care about durability than these are just fine. I would also give the grip an 8/10.

Comfort/Impact Support: This is easily the best part of the shoe, I loved wearing them because of how comfortable they are. They’re very nicely padded around the top which also provides good ankle support, along with the optional strap. The insole has a zoom air bag which is pretty thick and doesn’t wear down easily. I don’t think I ever felt any pain in my feet while wearing these shoes, so that’s saying something. I would give this section a 10/10, if you want comfortable shoes with good impact support you should definitely consider these.

Durability: Big disappointment for me. Right when I got them I superglued the stitching on the toecap all around, after around 2 days the top of the toe (blue part) started to fade and wear down as well as the red on the toe cap. The top of the toe quickly developed a small hole all the way to my sock and after 3 weeks or so they started ripping my socks. The ollie area lasted a little bit longer but also developed a hole to my sock. After about a month of skating them there was a hole in the toe cap that I could fit 4 fingers in and a hole in the ollie area in which I could fit 2. The rubber midsole was worn down all the way with holes through it. Needless to say these were weak shoes especially to what I was expecting. Once again, Big dissapointment, 6/10.

Overall: Though it may sound like it, these aren’t bad shoes. They skate really well and are some of if not the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever put my feet in, they were just weak. If you want to buy them go ahead, just be sure to add lots of shoe goo. Which is the mistake I made, I should’ve put more superglue on after I saw how fast they were ripping, but I didn’t have any left and kept forgetting to get some and so on. I would reccommend these shoes to someone who wants a good skating shoe and doesn’t care about durability. 8.5/10.
