Skate is a competetion between two or more skaters. The rules of skate are similar to the rules of the basketball game HORSE.
Rules:
The first skater will attemp his trick, if he lands it and it is deemed an acceptable landing then everybody else must do that exact same trick. Anybody who doesnt land the trick, or their landing is deemed unacceptable then they get a letter, "S" being the first letter, "K" being the second "A" being the third etc. until the word "S-K-A-T-E" is spelled out. Any person who gets the whole word "SKATE" is eliminated.
After everybody who is playing attempts the first players trick, the first player attempts a different trick. If he lands it the entire process is repeated. If the first player misses his trick then the second player gets to attempt a trick if he lands it everybody else has to land that same trick, if anyones landing is deemed unacceptable then they get a letter.
Questions
Can a player do the same trick twice?
No. If a player could do the same trick twice all they had to do was learn a trick like Lazer flips or sumthing to that extent and they could do it 5 times in a row and I doubt anyone could keep up. A player can do a trick in a different stance.
Ex. someone does a kickflip another player can do a nollie/fakie/ or switch kickflip(When it's their turn)
This isnt tony hawk version budds
Some people think that when you play all you have to do is do a trick better than the trick before you, thats not true. That is how its played in the Tony Hawk games, those games misinterpret the game of skate.
.
how long do I have to hold a trick
Some people say that when you play skate you have to ride away clean for about 3 – 4 seconds. Some people don't like that rule, you can call your own rules when you play with your friends.
Overall SKATE is a fun way to compete against friends that you have and also to show off your skills in skateboarding. Even Eric Kosten thinks so:
"Anyone can play; it's easy, no matter how good you are." – Eric Koston"
