Submitting Skate Stories

I've been the story mod over here together with Boxlid for the past couple
of months. Although I can't really speak for him I'm sure he shares some of
what I'm about to say.

Recently there's been lots more skate stories than before being sent in.
And I delete lots of them. If you want to get your story up, read this.

1. Be interesting. I get a lot of stories that go something like "we were
at the skatepark and  I did this trick." or "I got an injury this really
sucks" I don't want to put those kind of stories up because they aren't
interesting and there's already a million of them already up. If you want
to say how you got injured, make it interesting. Write it like you're
writing a story and you're entertaining other people.

2. Don't ask for trick tips. The message board is the place for that.
Likewise, don't send in something that's like starting a discussion. Use
the message board.

3. Try to spell properly and use proper punctuation. I don't need it to be
perfect but I do go through about 10 stories a day and if it isn't readable
I just delete it. Try not to use shortform or smilies too. Remember it's a
story, not a forums post.

4. I'm not Tom-E. Some of you seem to think I am. I'm not. Also, don't send
in a story which is pure fanmail, even though we here at SB-C love that 😉
Send it to Tom-E.

5. Wildly stupid and unbelieveable stories involving your severed head,
Osama bin Ladin, the ghost of Elvis, your friend turning into Barney The
Dinosaur, the ravenous undead, etc. will not be put up unless I feel like
making fun of you.

6. Unless it's really well-written or part of a good story, I'm not going
to put up any more rants about posers, bladers, or the police.

7. Do not defame Canada.

8. You're really dumb if you send me a story complaining about the mods on
the message board. If you got banned there's probably a good reason and I
have no sympathy for you. Besides, if you really think it was unfair, I'm
not the one to complain to.

9. The length of your story doesn't matter. A short story can be
interesting and really good, and a long one can get dumb and boring. What
matters more is how interesting it is. That's the most important thing.
