First of all Click Here to open a page with the pictures of this thing, so you know what you are building.
This is designed to help you increase the height of you Ollies, or at least measure the height. You set it up so that you cannot see the nails, they should be on the other side of the bars, and then take your stick or whatever and set it on a height you want. Now come up to your device and try to Ollie over it, if you hit the stick it will fall to the ground leaving you unharmed. This way you have no fear of falling at full speed like you do when you do the regular deck ollies.
Materials: Some 2 by 4's, Screws, thin bendable nails, a stick of some kind (Hockey Stick, Broom Stick, any kind of pole will do, just make sure its not to thick) and tape measure.
1. Cut 2 equal 2 by 4's to 3 feet long. These are going to be your stands, the par that sits on the ground.
2. Cut another set of two 2 by 4's, these will be your bars, the parts with the nails in them. These should also be around 3 feet long (36 inches)
3. Then take your stands measure out the middle and then screw the bar into place, only from below the stands so you won't see the screws at all right now. Do this to the second and then go to step 4.
4. Take another piece of 2 by 4 and cut it so that it is about 4 feet long. This is the part that is going to attach both sides together. This wood doesn't have to be a 2 by 4, it can be any wood you think will work. The lower it is the better so that way you will only HAVE to ollie a smaller amount. The pictures show a piece of wood that is about 4 inches high, this isn't the best because then you have to Ollie AT LEAST 6 inches (2 inches from the 2 by 4 support) This piece of wood should be fairly long, like I said earlier about 4 feet, not much shorter because you want some room on each side so you don't hit the sides or something.
5. Now you have a week frame, you can take some left over to by 4's or some scrap ply wood or something and make supports to toughen this thing up, this has to be done or else it will break very quickly. Then take your tape measure and mark of on each bar every inch, it is good to use a thick black permanent felt as you want to see these lines later. (or whatever you want) Once you have marked that off nail some of you think bendable nails into each line (These nails will end up being bent so you want them to, or else they will just snap off, you will have to keep bending them straight if you hit them down when you hit the stick on an Ollie but its not a big deal). Number off how many inches in each line, the value of the line to make putting your stick into place easier so you don't have to keep counting. Then if you want you can also mark out line for how many decks is where. Use another color felt or a piece of tape duct tape, then everything is ready.
6. Now take your stick and you can tape it up like you see in the picture, it helps it to not roll of easily. Finally, you can go and ride!
Good Luck!
